The much-awaited spy-thriller of the year Black Doves was released on Netflix on December 5, 2024. Created by Joe Barton, Black Doves is receiving massive praise from fans as well as critics on social media. In fact, Black Doves has been touted as a 'perfect spy thriller' that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats due to twists and turns. Another reason why Black Doves is becoming the talk of the town is the presence of ace Hollywood actress Keira Knightley (Helen).

Since you have landed on this page, True Scoop News assumes that you have already the spy-thriller on Netflix or have started to watch it and you have some questions related to it especially, Helen not knowing about Jason's identity. Below is everything you need to know-

Black Doves Storyline In Brief

Talking about Black Doves' storyline, the spy thriller revolves around Helen, portrayed by Keira Knightley, who leads a double life. Helen's passionate affair with a man unaware of her secret identity (a spy) takes a tragic turn when he gets entangled in London’s criminal underbelly. To protect her, Helen’s employers bring in Sam, played by Whishaw, a determined and skilled protector.

However, things started to go haywire after Jason (Andrew Koji) was murdered. Helen uncovers the shocking truth during a showdown with London crime boss Alex Clark (Tracey Ullman). It turns out that Alex’s son Trent (Angus Cooper) ordered the hit on Jason — as well as Maggie (Hannah Khalique-Brown) and Phillip (Thomas Coombes) — to cover his tracks after accidentally killing Ambassador Chen (Andy Cheung) in a heated argument.

Why Helen did not know Jason's real identity?

Coming back to the main question, Reed (Sarah Lancashire) gives Helen a hard drive with everything she has on the real Jason. Jason was actually an MI5 agent probing Helen over concerns that she was leaking government secrets before his death. Rather than dig into Jason’s life, Helen tosses the drive into the Thames.

Show creator Barton was quoted by Netflix Tudum saying,  "She has enough information about him, which is that he loved her, and he saved her, and the details are superfluous because she's invented a whole new set of details for herself. … What was in his heart, ultimately, was the one thing that she knew was real, so that act of saving her was real, and that’s all she needed."

Therefore, if you love to watch spy-thrillers, Black Doves can be a perfect watch for you this weekend on Netflix.
