'Badalda Punjab' Budget 2025: FM Cheema announces Drug Census next year, Rs 150 cr to be spent

Punjab Finance Minister during his address in the state assembly announced that the government has decided to conduct the first "Drug Census" next year. This census will cover every family in Punjab and will collect data to understand the socio-economic status of the people of Punjab, as well as the prevalence of drugs, the usefulness of de-addiction centers, etc. We will use these data to formulate an effective and scientific strategy to eliminate the problem of drugs in the next 1-2 years. Our government proposes to spend Rs 150 crore on this initiative in the financial year 2025-26. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema on Wednesday tabled Punjab Budget 2025-26 under the theme of Badalda Punjab. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema presented a budget of Rs 2,36,080 crores.
