Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer 83 are all set to hit the theatres on Friday. It is going to be the fourth film of Ranveer and Deepika together.
The Director of 83 Kabir Khans opened up about casting Deepika Padukone in the film. He mentioned that he cast Deepika irrespective of the fact that she is the wife of Ranveer Singh. However, He also mentioned that since Deepika and Ranveer are already a couple so casting them together in a film is a good marketing strategy.
Talking About the film to a National Daily, Kabir said, “Her casting has nothing to do with Ranveer. Yes, today, as a marketing campaign it’s a thing to talk about. It’s a real-life couple coming together for the first time after marriage. However, I would have gone to Deepika even if she was not married to Ranveer. I have admired her over the years and she is a fantastic actor, with such an amazing presence. Romi Dev’s character does not have a lot of screen time but it’s very significant. The energy that Romi brings was much needed. When I met Kapil and Romi a few years back, I realized that he is incomplete without her. And if that is the current mood, I am sure that would have been the case years back. The 1983 journey would have been incomplete without her presence in Kapil Dev’s life.”
Based on the historic win of the Indian Cricket Team in the 1983 World Cup, the film stars Ranveer Singh as Former Indian Captain Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone as the wife of Kapil Dev, Romi Bhatia.
The film will be released in many languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and, Malayalam.
