The Punjab government has made thousands of claims and pledges to combat drugs, and action is being taken, but now images of drug trafficking are emerging. In Jalandhar, a video leaked showing illegal substances being trafficked. The video depicts a woman running a narcotics business out of her home in Jalandhar's Phillaur subdivision. After a video of a lady selling narcotics achieved wide attention on social media, the police intervened and detained the woman.
The woman is seen in the video openly paying a customer who came home. The woman is having meal with her spouse at home in the video. She receives a phone call. She goes out first, leaving the meal in the middle. After receiving payment from the customer, she proceeds to her room. She enters the room and prepares a white ladle for the customer outside. The same individual who came to get the white made this video. The woman's every move was captured on film.
After the video became viral on social media, the police took action. The wife of drug smuggler Sonu was nabbed in Ganna village of Phillaur by Jalandhar Rural SSP Swapan Sharma. Sub-Inspector Narinder Singh of the Phillaur Police Station claimed that on May 14, ASI Umesh Kumar of the Jalandhar Rural Police Party was present in Ganna village. A woman was carrying something in her hand. She threw the envelope in her palm and rushed away when she noticed the police team. With the help of a female employee who asked for her name and address, she was captured. There was one gram of heroin found. Phillaur Police Station has filed a case against the accused woman under Section 21B of the NDPS Act.
It may be remembered that a similar video from Bathinda surfaced a few days ago, in which a woman was caught on camera selling drugs. A video of a young man selling narcotics while sitting on a railway line in Faridkot went viral as well. After the videos went viral, the government detained the two.
