Comedy King Bhagwant Mann sworn-in as Punjab’s new Chief Minister on Wednesday. His oath ceremony took place at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
From today the responsibility of Punjab has been given to the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann. In terms of tenure, Bhagwant Mann is the 25th Chief Minister of Punjab. Bhagwant Mann has become the second youngest Chief Minister of Punjab at the age of 49. Earlier, Parkash Singh Badal of Akali Dal had become the Chief Minister in 1970 at the age of 43.
Here are the key highlights from his speech as Punjab’s New Chief Minister:
- Mann began his speech with a sher, “Ishq karna sabka paidaishi haq hai kyun na is baar watan ki sarzamin ko mehboob bana liya jaye."
- After taking the oath, Mann said why martyrs are remembered only on a few dates? We should walk on the path shown by him every day. This is not the first time I have come to Khatkar Kalan. I will follow Bhagat Singh’s path.
- "I'm not here to disrespect anyone today. I am the Chief Minister of everyone in Punjab, even those who did not vote for our party," said Mann.
- Mann said that unemployment, corruption, agriculture, business, schools, and hospitals all these issues will get fixed by our government. It will take some time but all issues will get resolved.
- “I appeal to you all (newly-elected MLAs) to not get arrogant. We have to respect even those who didn't vote for us. I thank you all & AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal,” added Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
- Bhagwant Mann said that we have to start work from today itself, we do not have to waste a single day.
- He ended his speech with another sher, “Hakumat woh karte hai jinka dilo par raaj hota hai,kehne ko murge k sir par bhi taaj hota hai.”
