Amid the hike in fuel prices, the Centre has also decided to increase the toll tax on the national highways from April 1, Friday.
According to reports, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has increased the toll tax from ₹10 to ₹65. The department has increased the cost of light vehicles by ₹10 per vehicle for one way and ₹65 for commercial ones.
The revised rates will be applicable from midnight on March 31st.
There are 11 toll taxes on National Highways in Punjab, on which toll tax will become expensive from April 1. These include Chowkiman toll plaza on Ludhiana-Jagraon road, Ladowal toll plaza on Ludhiana-Panipat highway, 5 on Bathinda-Chandigarh road, 3 on Bathinda Amritsar road and 1 toll plaza on Bathinda Malout road.
