Top three winners were declared from the 8th edition of ‘All India Korea-India Friendship Essay Competition 2020.
The other seven students were winners of the 5th edition of ‘Korea-India Friendship Quiz Contest 2020.
All the ten winning students will get a free trip of six days and five nights to discover South Korea.
Aarush Gupta, first prize winner of Delhi NCR quiz contest, and a student of Aravali International School, Faridabad said, "I was motivated to learn about Korea because he was fascinated with the Korean culture and its similarities with Indian culture, particularly since both the countries shared the same date of the Independence Day."
Sarvesh Prabhu of Delhi Public School from Chhattisgarh declared as the first prize winner of the essay competition, said, “I was always intrigued about South Korea and this was the perfect chance to acquire knowledge about the country with a glimmer of hope to visit it.”
About 323 schools from four parts of the country - Delhi NCR, North East, Mumbai and Chandigarh participated in the quiz contest. The number of students who participated in the competition was 57,197.
The contest had topics revolving around various aspects of history, culture and general knowledge about Korea.
The essay competition had two categories, junior and senior. The contest was held from April 23 to August 18 through the open contest. 34, 000 students participated from 642 schools in the competition.
The junior category had students from class VI to IX and the topic for them was “How will I introduce South Korea to my friends”, whereas the senior category had students of class X to XII and their topic for the contest was “How South Korea inspires me."
Many other students of the quiz contest were rewarded with cash prizes of more than Rs 2,00,000 and 41 winners of quiz contest received total prize money of Rs 1,19,000. Trophies will be distributed on October 23 and 27, 2020 respectively.
