Recently, a brutal clash occurred between Police officials and local villagers during the eviction drive in Assam’s Dholpur village. During this clash, around two civilians were killed by the police and at least 20 were injured. Among two civilians, one was a 12-year-old boy who was gone to collect this identity proof – Aadhaar Card.
The victim was identified as Shakh Farid, who resident of a village in an area called Dholpur-3 on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in the Sipajhar area of Assam’s Darrang district.
The boy was out to collect his Aadhaar Card from the local post office when he was caught in the brawl. According to one of the relatives told the media agency that he has been called by the post office several times since the month of July.

Farid was the youngest of four siblings. Rafiqul Islam, a family relative, told NDTV, “While returning he saw a lot of people in the protest, he stood there as a bystander and when police opened fire he was hit. The police fired at him from the front; he took a bullet in his chest and died on the spot.”
The brutal clash was captured on a camera and the recorded clip showed the policemen cruelly beating and chasing the protesting against an anti-encroachment drive in Assam's Darrang district.
Darrang Superintendent of Police Sushanta Biswa Sarma, younger brother of Assam Chief Minister, claimed that the police officers were attacked by the villagers with sharp weapons and stones. The fire was opened by police in self-defense and unfortunately, two civilians were killed.
The second deceased person was a 33-year-old daily wage worker, Moinul Haque. “I have lived in this place all my life,” said the 70-year-old Maqbool Ali, Haque’s father, who is yet to see his son’s body.
