Hosts Punjab beat Telangana by 7-0, Manipur beat Goa by 15-1, Maharashtra beat Himachal by 5-0, Chandigarh beat Puducherry by 9-2 and Madhya Pradesh beat Uttarakhand by 9-1. The teams of Bihar and Mizoram were tied 2-2.The 14th Hockey India Junior Men National Hockey Championship which started at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium was inaugurated by Sukhdev Singh Managing Director AGI Infra Limited. On this occasion, the students of SD Pularwan School presented a magnificent Gidha.

In the opening match, hosts Punjab defeated Telangana by a margin of 7-0 and secured three points. For the winning team, captain Ujwal Singh scored two goals, Sukhwinder Singh scored two goals, Harshdeep Singh, Jobanpreet Singh and German Singh scored goals and earned three points.

Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Uttarakhand 9-1 in the first match. For Madhya Pradesh, Ali Ahmed, Zameer Mohammad scored two, Tushar Pramar, A Khan, Suhail Ali, Parochi Kartikesdal Ahmed, Mohammad Anas scored while Uttarakhand Arpit Kohli scored.

In the second match, Chandigarh defeated Pudicherry 9-2. For Chandigarh, Harpreet Singh, Sukhpreet scored two goals, Komalpreet Singh scored two goals, Gurpreet Singh, Gurkirat Singh Hothi, Prabhjot Singh scored goals while A Dasan and Gurudutt Gupta scored goals for Pudicherry.

In the third match, Maharashtra defeated Himachal Pradesh 5-0. Joseph Etney, Jay Kaile, Karthik, Amin, Sachin scored goals for Maharashtra.  In the fourth match, Manipur beat Goa 15-0. Manipur's U Vidyananda Singh scored 5 goals and scored the first hat-trick of the championship.

During today's matches Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli, General Secretary Amrik Singh Powar, Cashier Olympian Sanjeev Kumar, Olympian Harpreet Singh Mander, Olympian Baljit Singh Dhillon, Ripudaman Kumar Singh, Daljit Singh Customs, Ram Saran, Jaswinder Singh Sangrur, Gurmeet Singh, Tajinder Singh Padda Sports Secretary SGPC, Sanjay Bir, Dharmapal PNT, Harinder Sangha, GS Sangha, Parminder Kaur, Sangeet Sareen, Surinder Singh DAV School were specially present.
