Two oxygen plants funded by PM-CARES set up at AIIMS, RML

Two medical oxygen plants have been installed at Delhi's AIIMS and RML Hospital, funded by PM CARES, and would supplying oxygen from tonight.

India is fighting against the second wave of coronavirus and is facing a severe shortage of medical oxygen, due to which people from different states are losing their lives. In a significant development, two medical oxygen plants funded by PM CARES have been installed at New Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Ram Manohar Lahoi (RML) Hospital within a week.

Union Health Ministry Dr Harsh Vardhan said, "Work on a war-footing for installing, the two plants were swiftly airlifted from Coimbatore and installed yesterday. Two plants would be funded by PM CARES. Both the plants will start supplying oxygen by today evening."

Union Minister of States for Health, Ashwin Kumar Chuobey tweeted, "Installation of two high medical oxygen plants funded by PM-CARES at AIIMS, New Delhi and RML Hospital completed. Oxygen supply to Covid patients to begin from today."

In order to deal with the high surge of Covid-29 cases in the country, PM-CARES has allocated funds for the installation of 500 Medical Oxygen Plants across the country, these plants are planned to be set up within three months.

It is also decided that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) would install five PSA oxygen plants at AIIMS Trauma Centre, RML Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College, and AIIMS Jhajjar, Haryana. The installation of the plants is being funded by PM-CARES to tackle the surge in Covid-19 cases.
