In a shocking development, 25-year-old Dr. Navdeep Singh, NEET topper of 2017, a resident of Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, died by suicide on Sunday. The 2017 NEET topper Dr. Navdeep Singh's body was found hanging in a room of the Parsi Anjuman Dharamshala in Delhi. Navdeep was a second-year MD student at Delhi’s Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) in the Radiology Department. The police have not recovered any suicide note from the spot. Hence, Navdeep Singh's suicide reason or Punjab NEET Topper's suicide reason has not been revealed yet.
Navdeep's entire family reached Delhi as soon as the incident was reported. The police have handed over the body to the family after conducting the post-mortem. It is not yet clear in the police investigation why Navdeep died a suicide.
The family stated that Navdeep was very close to his family. No dispute in the family would make him take such a step.
As per reports, Navdeep Singh lived in the Parsi Dharamshala. On Sunday morning, when he did not come out of the room for a long time, the guard knocked on the door. After waiting for a long time, when there was no response from inside, the guard broke the door of the room with the help of other people. Inside, Navdeep had hanged himself from the fan. The guard immediately informed the police about this.
When the police reached the spot, Navdeep's mobile was found lying there. The police took the mobile in their possession and sent it to the lab for forensic investigation. The police interrogated Navdeep's friends in the medical college, but the reason for suicide was not revealed.
Navdeep's senior doctor said that he was very good in studies. After completing his MBBS from Maulana Azad College, he was pursuing MD. Navdeep was on leave on Sunday.
Navdeep Singh's father Gopal Singh is the principal of a government school. His mother Simranjit Kaur works in a life insurance company. Navdeep also has a younger brother, he is studying MBBS from a college in Chandigarh.
Navdeep was fond of playing cricket in his childhood. After completing 12th, his dream was to study in a big MBBS college in Delhi and become a doctor. For this, he took coaching from a center in Chandigarh. In 2017, he took the NEET exam and topped all India. Navdeep got 697 marks in the exam.
