The Indian boxer, Amit Panghal is bowed out today after his defeat by the Columbian boxer Yuberjen Martinez in the Men’s flyweight round of 16. The score was dropped to 4-1 at the end of the match.
As for the first round, the amateur boxer was at defense for most of the time and the Rio Silver medalist was at his best, landing punches. After the first round the no. 1 seed in flying category seemed exhausted.

In the second round, the Columbian was having an upper hand by 4 out of 5 judges. In the last round, Martinez had 10 points each by all the five judges, but Panghal managed to achieve 44.
During the match the Indian boxer, made sure to be defensive and despite his loss, the 25-year-old still is one of the best Indian boxers.

Born in Haryana, Amit Panghal belonged to a farmer’s family, and his brother works in the Indian Army. An amateur boxer was inspired to take up this sport at Sir Chhoturam Boxing Academy. He has secured gold in 2018 Asian Games, silver in 2018 commonwealth Games and also in World Championships in 2019.
The first Indian boxer to secure a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is Lovlina Borgohain, who has defeated Chinese Taipei, Nien-chin Chen is all set for semifinals.
