With alarming rate of NRIs settling abroad and abandoning their wives in India, Indian government has taken action cancelling 45 passports of the ones who abandoned their wives. This was reported to be quoted by Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi.
The government has issued look-out circulars for the ones accused of abandoning their wives impounding 45 of the passports in the case, as quoted by Gandhi.
The probe agency to deal with such issues is being led by Secretary in the Women and child development Ministry, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava.
The government has also been quoted presenting a bill in the upper house for justice to the women who have faced such cases but it got stalled as told by Maneka Gandhi.
The bill advocates an amendment of the Passports Act, 1967 and Code of criminal Procedure, 1973.
