Rahul Gandhi visited Punjab on Thursday for his Punjab’s Fateh Rally. 5 MPs of Congress, namely - Manish Tewari, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Preneet Kaur and Muhammad Sadiq were missing from the rally. Rumors were they have boycotted the rally, but, they clarified that they missed it because only candidates were called at his rally.
Jasbir Singh shared a post on Twitter condemning the boycott news of rally, “Due to my personal obligation I was not able to attend Amritsar function & for this I had already informed my leadership, no assumptions please.”
After Rahul Gandhi arrived in Amritsar, he went to Shri Harmandir Sahib to pay obeisance with 109 Congress candidates. He ate langar there and prayed for Punjab’s bright future.
He is likely to visit Durgiana Mandir today. Now he will also go to Lord Valmiki's shrine to bow his head. Due to the ban on rallies due to Corona, he will start the election campaign in Punjab with his virtual rally. He will address the “Navi Soch Nava Punjab" virtual rally at 4 pm in Jalandhar. From Jalandhar, he will leave for Delhi from Adampur Airport.
ECI has announced the elections schedule and the code of conduct for the 2022 elections. ECI has announced that the assembly election of Punjab would be held in the second phase on the 20th of February.
