Another unfortunate incident has come from the farmers’ protest site, a 52-year-old farmer from Jind in Haryana was found hanging from a tree near a bus stand near Tikri border on Sunday, police said. The deceased farmer had left a suicide note. Identified as Karmveer Singh, the deceased farmer has three daughters, other farmers at the site said.
"The farmer, Karamveer Singh, hailed from a village in Jind. He was found hanging from a tree in a park, which is around two kilometres away from the Tikri border," said Bahadurgarh City police station SHO Vijay Kumar. He also added that the farmer's dead body was found on Sunday morning.
Karmveer had used a plastic rope to hang himself.
A suicide note was left behind by the deceased farmer, the police said.
"Dear farmer associates, the Modi government is giving date after date... No one knows when these black farm laws will be repealed,” the farmer wrote in the note. “tareek par tareek detail jaa rahi hai. Iska koi andaza nahi hai ki kaale kanoon kab radd hoga,” the note read.
He also hailed the farmers organisation Bharatiya Kisan Union.
The farmer’s body has been sent to a civil hospital for post-mortem, and the autopsy will only be done after the arrival of the farmer's family members, informed the police.
This is not only death that has occurred throughout this protest. A day ago another farmer from Haryana was found dead at Tikri border after consuming a poisonous substance. He was declared dead during the treatment in the hospital.
A lawyer from Punjab had allegedly killed himself in December. He was said to consume poison, while a Sikh Sant, named Sant Ram Singh killed himself saying that he was unable to bear the pain of the farmers.
