An earthquake of 5.4magnitude has just been felt in Sikkim's capital Gangtok on Monday night. The intense tremors were also felt in parts of Assam, North Bengal, and Bihar.
According to the preliminary readings of the National Centre of Seismology the earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale occurred near the Sikkim-Nepal border at around 8:49 pm.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 25 km east-southeast (ESE) of Gangtok, Sikkim. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km from the surface.
