Rescuers at Uttarakhand have found two more dead bodies from Tapovan tunnel on Tuesday taking the toll to 58. While the rescue operations are still on to find 146 missing people after the glacier burst.
Reportedly, the operation to rescue people have been underway since last 10 days.
One of the bodies was found during midnight and another body was found at around 2:00 am, according to a report. The bodies are being kept at a temporary mortuary in Tapovan.
From the Adit Tunnel of Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project, 11 bodies have been recovered so far. Around 30 workers were feared trappe din the Tapovan tunnel and multi-agency rescue operations are still on. Indo-Tibetan Border Police, the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force have been put into the rescue efforts.
Satpal Mahajan, the Irrigation Minister of Uttarakhand has told the media that a department will be created by government to investigate the cause behind glacier burst. The department will monitor the glaciers through satellite.
Mahajan was quoted by ANI, "All angles (related to the Chamoli glacier burst) should be investigated. We will form a department in our ministry to monitor and study all the glaciers through satellite."
"We are concerned over the way glaciers are melting
and the tidal wave created in the mountains. The plutonium pack that was kept
to monitor China's movement should also be investigated. Orders were made to
place plutonium pack to monitor China's movement at the borders. We request the
government to investigate the pack too," Mahajan added.
