Briefing the media about the rescue of the kidnapped child of village Raur, Ludhiana Commissioner of Police, Rakesh Agrawal, said that one FIR no. 84/21 was registered u/s 364-A, 381 IPC at PS Meharban, Ludhiana on the complaint of Parmjit Singh, father of the 6-year-old child Amandeep, who was kidnapped by their servant Vijay@Akash on 29.7.2021. The father said that they kept the servant about 10 days back to help them in household work.
CP Agrawal said the city and adjoining districts were alerted immediately for the rescue operation. The search of the Jungle was conducted thoroughly by different police parties and civilians. Search and raid parties were deputed not only within the district but also in the adjoining districts and to other states. Naka parties were briefed for extensive checking of every vehicle coming in and leaving the city. Technical teams were deputed for gathering technical leads for the rescue of the child and the arrest of the accused. At the same time, villagers were roped in to aid the police teams in the search operation.
During the investigation of the said FIR, it came to light that one Vijay@Akash belongs to Sikarpur, UP was employed by the family of the child on 18.7.2021 through some known contacts, for some domestic help. But this accused didn’t disclose his real identity to the family. The family also trusted him and didn’t check for any identification proof of this servant. After only 10 days, the accused kidnapped the child on 29.7.2021 in the evening on the Active vehicle of the family and later abandoned the active at a distance.
CP Ludhiana added one team was sent to the accused’s native place in UP. His wife and father were rounded up for questioning. The account number is given by the accused of getting the ransom money, also belongs to Meva Lal, father of the accused.
CP Agrawal also told today morning a team of villagers and police raided the area near the Satluj river and recovered the child. The accused ran away from the spot, but he was also caught by the villagers who beat him up when he tried to resist his arrest. The accused was later admitted to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, for treatment, where he was given First Aid and discharged. The police is questioning the accused further about his motive.

The search operation was supervised by ADCP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, ADCP Rupinder Kaur Sra, DCP Simratpal Singh Dhindsa and Joint CP Sachin Gupta.
