76-year-old Covid positive woman in Maharashtra wakes up minutes before her last rites

The Covid patient who was declared dead due to Covid infection opened her eyes and started crying few minutes before her cremation.

A woman who was declared dead came to life moment before she was to be cremated, her family members were preparing for her last rites. The incident is from Mudhale village in Baramati.

The woman was identified as Shakuntla Gaikwad, has tested positive for the coronavirus a few days back, and was home isolated. After one to two days, her condition deteriorated because of her old age, and then her family decided to shift her to the local hospital in Baramati.

On May 10, the elderly woman was taken to hospital in a private hospital. The family was unable to find a bed at the hospital, therefore they waited in the car. During all this, the woman fell unconscious and stopped moving. 

After that, the family members assumed that she is no more and informed all the relatives about the last rites. The family took her back home and started the preparation for cremation. Suddenly the woman opened her eyes and started crying few minutes before cremation. 

Later, shocked family members took her to the hospital. Dr Sadanand Kale said that the woman was admitted to the Silver Jubliee Hospital in Baramati for further treatment. 

Policeman Santosh Gaikwad confirmed the incident.
