Beijing: In a historic diplomatic win for India to tag JeM Chief Azhar Masood as global terrorist, China said on Thursday that it had agreed to allow the UN Security Council to declare JeM chief a global terrorist only after it was satisfied with the revised evidence made available to it.
China was referring to the proofs provided by foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale during his recent visit to Beijing between April 25 and 27.
Without naming any country Chinese Foreign Secretary Geng Shuang said, “Recently, relevant countries revised and re-submitted the materials for the listing proposal to the 1267 Committee. After careful study of the revised materials and taking into consideration the opinions of relevant parties concerned, China does not have objection to the listing proposal.”

After this Shuang also hailed its ‘all weather ally’ Pakistan contribution in counter-terrorism and said, “I would like to stress that Pakistan has made enormous contributions in fighting terrorism, which deserves the full recognition of the international community. China will continue to firmly support Pakistan efforts to to combat terrorist and extremist forces.”
Clearing China's stand stand on banning of Azhar, the spokesperson also added, “The 1267 Committee of the UN Security Council has detailed criteria for the listing procedures. China always believes that the relevant work should be carried out in an objective, unbiased and professional manner and based on solid evidence and consensus among all parties.”
