New Delhi: Just days prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India has written to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry seeking reports regarding the sudden launch of NaMo TV on Tuesday. The election watchdog has even separately written to Doordarshan seeking justifications from the national broadcaster regarding their one hour long live broadcast of PM Modi public address ‘mein bhi chowkidaar’ on March 31. The issue regarding the same was raised by Congress in its official complaint to the EC.

It is expected that the government will tell the EC that NaMo TV is not a permitted channel but merely an advertising platform by the service provider. The sources have also informed that the expenses towards it will also be reflected by BJP in its annual expenditure and audit report to the EC.
