He had taken a break from the industry for 5 years and feels that he is all ready to come back to his favorite place. His last directed movie was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which he directed in 2016.
He wrote on his Twitter account yesterday,” This is the beginning of a new journey & my way back home - all at once. It's time to go back to my favorite place, it's time to create some eternal love stories from behind the lens. A very special story, truly immersed in the roots of love and family.” By linking this message with a video in which his favorite behind-the-scene events are combined.
Karan Johar said: "Personally, my primary passion always lies behind the camera. Telling stories, creating a world filled with a multitude of colors, eternal music, emotions... I feel it's time to go back to my favorite place, on set. And to create what I adore the most, love stories."

Karan is going to make the big announcement of his movie today in the afternoon at 11 am, which he addresses as, “Announcing my next film tomorrow at 11 am, watch this space for more! @DharmaMovies @apoorvamehta18”
Karan Johar’s debut was made in 1998 as a director, with the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and managed movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan and Student of the Year.
