Aadhaar Card New Rules: The Central Government has issued an advisory regarding the Aadhaar card. The government has asked citizens to share only masked copies of their Aadhaar cards with anyone to prevent misuse.
In a press release on Sunday, the government said, "Do not share your Aadhaar photocopies indiscriminately with any person or institution as it can be misused." Given this option, the government has advised sharing only masked Aadhaar. Only the last four digits are recorded on it.
Further, the notice issued by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology states that unlicensed private entities are as hotels and cinema halls are not allowed to collect or keep copies of Aadhaar cards.
"Only those organizations that have obtained a user license from the Unique Identification Authority of India can use Aadhaar to establish the identity of an individual," the government said. The government asked citizens to verify that an organization has a valid user license from UIDAI before sharing their Aadhaar cards.
Additionally, the government has warned people not to use public computers in internet cafes to download their Aadhaar cards. "If you do so please ensure that you permanently delete all downloaded copies of e-Aadhaar from that computer," the government said in its advisory.
If you want to download the masked Aadhaar card, you have to go to the official website of UIDAI https://uidai.gov.in/ and select the option 'Download Aadhaar'. Then click on the ‘Aadhaar / VID / Nomination ID’ option and click on the ‘Masked Aadhaar Card’ option. After this, you have to fill in some important information like Aadhaar number etc. and then click on the option with 'Request OTP'.
Now a one time password will come on your registered mobile number i.e. number linked to Aadhaar, which you have to enter. Then click on 'Download Base'. After this, you will get your Masked Aadhaar Card.
