Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the upcoming Ludhiana West bye-election. Ludhiana West Assembly has no MLA as of now as Gurpreet Gogi died by accidentally shooting himself. MP Sanjeev Arora took to his X handle and expressed his gratitude to the Aam Aadmi Party for reposing faith in him.
Arora wrote, "Humbled and grateful to the leadership @AamAadmiParty for reposing faith in me to contest the Ludhiana West bye-elections. As someone deeply connected to my hometown, I look forward to serving my people with dedication and sincerity."
It means if Sanjeev Arora wins the Ludhiana West bye-election, AAP will have to nominate another Rajya Sabha MP from the party.
Talking about former Ludhiana West MLA, Gurpreet Bassi Gogi died of gunshot injuries, with police saying that it could be a case of "accidental fire" from his own licensed pistol. As per reports, Joint Commissioner of Police Jaskaran Singh Teja said the bullet pierced Gogi's temple and he was rushed to the local Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead. The incident occurred at Gogi's house. Teja said the bullet was fired from Gogi's licensed pistol.
