Aam Aadmi Party leader Gurpreet Singh Gopi was shot dead in Tarn Taran near the railway crossing near Goindwal Sahib Road. According to reports, he was on his way to Sultanpur Lodhi to appear in a court case when he was shot by unidentified assailants in a car. Gurpreet was shot 5 times.
According to initial investigation, Gopi was at railway crossing waiting for the ‘phatak’ (gate) to open when some unknown assailants in a swift car opened fire at the AAP leader. Gurpreet Singh Gopi Chola died on the spot.
According to preliminary reports, 3 unknown assailants were in the Swift car who opened fire on Gopi. They were already following the deceased before the incident. They opened fire when Gurpreet was sitting at the closed gate on the railway crossing waiting for it to open. His body has been sent for postmortem. The police are scouring the CCTV footage for investigation.
