The moment has come for which the entire nation has been waiting with bated breath. IAF Pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has been released by Pakistan and his parents have come to Wagah border to recieve their braveheart son. Visuals released showed IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman being handed over to India. IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was handed over to Indian officials after Pakistan changed the release timings twice.
Pakistan, succumbing to the international pressure, had on Thursday decided to release IAF pilot terming it to be Pakistan's "peace gesture".
Following the norms of Geneva Convention, the captured pilot was handed over to the International Red Cross Committee who further brought him to the joint checkpost at Attari. He recieved a briefing by the defence and security forces afterwards post his return to the country. Although, India had requested a special flight to send Wing Commander Abhinandan back but Pakistan said 'no' to India's request and said that he will be released through land route only.
Abhinanthan is currently being taken for medical check up by Indian ofiicials.
