The Adampur block of the district has bagged top position in Punjab under Digital Parent Margdarshak Program besides Nakodar and Shahkot blocks have also featured among top 25 blocks with 14th and 24th ranks respectively.
Congratulating students and their parents on this achievement, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the program was aimed at ensuring quality education to the students from pre-nursery and 5th class through creative and activity-based video content at their homes in the absence of regular classes.
Thori said that the program emphasized ensuring the holistic development of adolescents especially their emotional, intellectual, and cognitive growth.
He said that the program was launched in collaboration with Meraki Foundation under which e-learning content was distributed through WhatsApp groups.
The deputy commissioner further added that apart from Anganwari workers and school teachers, the staff of schools under the National Rural Livelihood Mission also joined the mission and organized online classes through small video clips in WhatsApp groups.
He said that the program enabled the parents to educate their children and create a positive environment for their wards by mitigating the negative impact of the prevailing situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The deputy commissioner asked top performing blocks to maintain this level of performance so that other blocks could be motivated.
