The theatrical-to-OTT release window is set to a strict 8-week gap with every Hindi-language film instructed to release on OTT platforms to watch for free only 8 weeks after the film's theatrical release, irrespective of the film's box office performance. Because of this rule, the film is expected to debut on 11th August 2023 on the streaming platform in its Hindi version. The film, which is simultaneously shot in Telugu as well, might have an early release for its Telugu version as regional film industries have not set such rules as they usually get to debut on streaming platforms 4-5 weeks after their debut which sparked controversy with the blockbuster Malayalam film 2018, which debuted in just a month after its theatrical release which dented the fil's unstoppable box office run. The film is also expected to release on Amazon Prime Video Rent for paid early access a couple of weeks before its official release for free streaming.
Adipurush is made on a colossal budget of over 500 crores and is directed by Om Raut, basking in the glory of the critically and commercially successful Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Despite the flak received by critics and audiences for its subpar quality, the film is already in the green due to digital and satellite rights sold for a combined figure of 520 crores.
