As Taliban seized the control over Afghanistan, a series of videos and images from various parts of the country went viral on social media. The entire world was saddened after watching these disturbing, gut-wrenching visuals from the Taliban seized country. Amid the chaos, another video showing the Afghan government’s vice president Amrullah Saleh playing volleyball in Panjshir valley has gone viral.
Saleh announced himself as the acting President of Afghanistan two days after the Taliban took over the Kabul and presidential palace on August 15. He had said he will not flee the country and will fight the Taliban.
Panjshir is one of the few areas which the Taliban has not taken over yet and is home to the last major anti-Taliban outpost.
The video released of Saleh shows him playing volleyball with Panjshir residents. He was accompanied by security guard for his safety. There is no information regarding when was the video captured.
Today, Saleh informed that Taliban fighters have gathered in huge numbers at the Panjshir entrance.
“Talibs have massed forces near the entrance of Panjshir a day after they got trapped in ambush zones of neighbouring Andarab valley & hardly went out in one piece,” tweeted Saleh today morning.
“Meanwhile Salang highway is closed by the forces of the Resistance. There are terrains to be avoided. See you,” he further updated.
The anti-Taliban forces in northern Afghanistan have re-captured three districts in the Panjshir valley, according to reports. In Panjshir, former Afghan government forces, as well as various local militia groups, have gathered.
Ahmad Massoud, the leader of Afghanistan's last major anti-Taliban and Saleh are committed to fighting against the group and not surrender. Massoud has planned to create an army of roughly 9,000 people to combat the militants in Panjshir.
