The Punjab government has declared four more areas of Patiala district as epi centers of 'African Swine Fever'. Villages Rawas Brahmin, Gangrola, Babu Singh Colony Ablowal and Baba Jeevan Singh Basti in Patiala district have been notified as epi centers of 'African Swine Fever' disease.
African Swine Fever has been confirmed by samples of pigs sent from these four locations to the National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal, according to Punjab's Minister of Animal Husbandry Laljit Singh Bhullar. The Animal Husbandry Department has taken quick action by declaring a zone up to one kilometer from these sites as an "infected zone" and a zone up to ten kilometers as a "monitoring zone." No pigs, live or dead, or non-processed pork flesh, will be taken from certain locations or introduced here.
Additionally, no feed or materials from the pig farm operating in these areas or the business producing their feed may be taken out of or brought to this location.
The minister told the people that 'African Swine Fever' does not spread from animals to humans, so there is no need to panic. People just need to be careful and clean.
