After Capt Amarinder Singh today announced that he will not join BJP but would definitely quit Congress, speculations are being made that former CM is planning to come up with his own party.
Though Amarinder Singh said he is still thinking through his options in the interest of Punjab, sources say if he decides to announce his own party, his loyalists who still are part of Channi's government will accompany him.
"If Capt Amarinder gets the support of 20-25 MLAs, Channi govt may fail to prove majority during the floor test in Punjab Assembly", sources said.

His decision came after he met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval this morning.
Captain Amarinder Singh, during an interview with a renowned media channel, said that Navjot Singh is an immature person and he will not be able to handle the post of PPCC. “(Navjot Singh) Sidhu is an immature person. I have said repeatedly that he is not a stable man. He is not a team player. He is a loner. How will he handle the Punjab Congress as its chief? For that, you need to be a team player, which (Mr) Sidhu is not. I have been a PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) chief thrice, I can say this with certainty that if you are not a team player, you cannot be the PCC chief,” Capt said.
“If the party loses the majority, then the Assembly Speaker has to take the decision,” Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh further said, on the question of floor test in Punjab Assembly.
