An international drug racket has been exposed before the elections in Punjab. The STF wing of the Punjab Police on Thursday conducted raids to unearth an international drug racket and arrested Kapurthala-based international kabaddi player Ranjit Singh, alias Jeeta Maur, retired Jalandhar-based DSP Vimal Kant and another cop Manish.
After their arrest, the names of some police officials and prominent politicians are under the radar of STF. STF is investigating the matter and collecting the pieces of evidence against them. Jeeta had a good relationship with many big politicians and bureaucrats. According to sources, he used to invest money earned from drugs into the property business. He had recently invested in many properties.
Harpreet Sidhu, ADGP STF Chief has arrested the accused. Harpreet is known as an officer who doesn’t let go of the case so easily until the matter gets solved. STF has tightened its noose against all the 12 officials who are involved in the drug racket case. If needed, Enforcement Directorate (ED) may intervene in the matter and can summon the persons involved.
STF has registered a case against a total of 12 people involved in the drug racket who were in contact with Jeeta Maur. A case has been registered in Mohali. Luxurious vehicles like BMW and AUDI have been confiscated from the bungalow of the accused.
Apart from vehicles, STF has seized some weapons, 100 grams of intoxicant and several lakh rupees from Ranjit’s house. Gurjant Singh of America, Davinder Singh alias Jawahar of Canada, Bhupinder Singh, Simranjit Singh, Randeep Singh, Dinesh, Thanedar Jagdish Singh and Jeeta Maur's wife Rajinder Kaur names were also involved in the case.
STF has seized a laptop and cash of about 3 lakh from the house of SHO Manish posted under Jeeta’s security.
