In a significant national security development, AIG Counter Intelligence Ravjot Grewal has expressed grave concern regarding Congress Party leader Pratap Singh Bajwa's recent media statement on the existence of hand grenades in Punjab. AGI Ravjot had visited Pratap Bajwa to interrogate him about the source of the leaked information.
In a formal statement, AIG Grewal stated, "Pratap Singh Bajwa, while in an interview with the media, stated that 50 hand grenades have reached Punjab, of which 32 are in circulation. It was sensitive information relating to national security. We wanted to reach the source of the information, so we interrogated him, but he did not cooperate with us".
She also said that the Punjab intelligence force is well equipped, further affirming that to conclude soon.
Grewal went on to say that the agency had asked "very clear questions" of Bajwa about the origin of his information. Bajwa purportedly refused to answer any questions. "We will get to the bottom of this," Grewal declared.
The police view Bajwa's disclosure as a serious violation that could potentially jeopardize counter-terror operations in the state. Authorities now seek legal and procedural avenues to find out how Bajwa obtained this classified information and whether it was officially authenticated.
The issue is likely to provoke political and legal controversy, with security agencies stepping up efforts to track the suspected consignment of explosives. Investigations are underway.
