The wait for the official name of the Ahmedabad franchise is finally over as the Hardik Pandya-led team on Wednesday announced their official name ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction. The Ahmedabad franchise will be called 'Gujarat Titans' in the IPL 2022. Notably, speculations were high that the CVC Capital-owned company can use 'Titans' in their official team name. Now, it has been confirmed that Ahmedabad will be called 'Gujarat Titans' in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Ahmedabad is among the two new franchises which have joined the IPL along with Lucknow. Lucknow has already unveiled its team name and logo, while Gujarat Titans are yet to unveil their team logo. Gujarat Titans made its century on social media by posting a tweet saying 'Subh Aarambh'.

The Ahmedabad franchise, which was bought by CVC Capital Partners, have picked Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill alongside Hardik Pandya ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The 28-year-old Hardik, who has only played for Mumbai Indians till now, will be leading an IPL franchise for the first time.
IPL 2022 mega-auction
The countdown for the IPL Mega Auction 2022 has begun and ten franchises are all set to go into the bidding war to sign their preferred choice of players. A total of 1,214 players have registered their names for the mega auction, which is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. Of those 1,214 players, 896 are Indians and 318 are overseas players. According to a press release issued by the BCCI, the list includes 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 associate players from 10 different nations. Notably, IPL 2022 will be a bigger season as compared other with the inclusion of two new franchises i.e. Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
