VK Sasikala, former AIADMK leader will be released today from Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru. She spent four years in prison in a corruption case.
Sasikala is a fomrer aide of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha and got infected with Covid-19. She is undergoing treatment for the same in a hospital.
Sasikala (63) will be discharged from the hospital as per prison officials and a report by Press Trust of India (PTI). She contracted the virus on January 20 before his release from the prison. She will be discharged from the hospital after completing the formalities.
Admitted to Bengaluru's Bowring hospital and later shifted to Victoria hospital, Sasikala's earlier Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR reports came negative but she developed symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Illness. Tests last Thursday confirmed that she had Covid-19.
General Secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and Sasikala'a nephew, TTV Dinakaran said she was stable now. While speaking to the reporters, he said, "I got reliable information that her health is stable. Doctors are looking after her very well. Good care is given. They are monitoring her," Mr Dhinakaran had said last week."
Sasikala was sentenced to four years of prison after she was found guilty in Rs 66 Crore disproportionate assets case. Her sister in law and foster son also were conducted in the same case.
