The All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) and the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Bhanu) on Wednesday have announced that they are withdrawing from the ongoing farmers’ protest.
Both farmers unions have denounced the violence that happened during the Republic Day tractor march in New Delhi that caused damage and inured many police personnel. The leaders said they cannot continue the protest in this manner.
VM Singh, All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee leader said that his organisation is retreating from the protest with immediate effect because what happened yesterday was unacceptable.
"We are discontinuing our agitation but our fight for farmers' rights will continue," AIKSCC leader VM Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI at Ghazipur border.
He added that the agitation will continue "but not like this". "This format is not acceptable," VM Singh said.
"We can't carry forward a protest with someone whose direction is something else. So, I wish them the best but VM Singh and All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee are withdrawing from this protest right away,” added VM Singh.
