Airline passengers must now be more vigilant about baggage weight and size limits under updated regulations. Travelers in premium economy and economy classes are restricted to a maximum of 7 kilograms for hand baggage, making careful packing essential to avoid additional fees or inconvenience at check-in.

However, passengers in business and first-class enjoy greater flexibility, with higher weight allowances providing some relief for those traveling in these premium categories. These changes reflect the airline’s efforts to streamline operations, enhance safety, and manage cabin space more efficiently.

To avoid surprises at the airport, travelers are advised to review their airline’s specific baggage policies before departure. Ensuring compliance with these new limits will not only save time but also help create smoother travel for all.

Updated guidelines for hand baggage

Under the new rules the prescribed Weight Limit:

  • The cabin baggage of premium economy and economy class is allowed 7 kg. In the case of business and first-class, the weight allowed is up to 10 kg.
  • Size Limitations: The size of the handbag should not exceed the following measurements 40 cm (length), 20 cm (width), and 55 cm (height). More oversized bags, along with exceeding the allowed weight will be charged for extra luggage or must be checked in.

Indigo Airlines updates the guidelines

Indigo Airlines has also revised its baggage policies. The airlines have requested that passengers take note of the new policy in order to not face inconveniences. Any bags with a weight or size more than the stipulated will have extra charges levied.

Check-in Baggage

Check-in baggage is still unchanged; the weight differs according to class. Exceeding the weight limits as prescribed will attract extra fees, which is the same as previous practice.

Tips for Travelers

  • Always know the airline baggage limitations before embarking on a trip.
  • Avoid carrying oversized or overweight luggage so that you do not have extra charges.
  • Stick to the prescribed size and weight of luggage so you can travel without a hitch.

These new regulations hope to make air travel easier, more convenient, and safer.
