Dimple Yadav, a former Samajwadi Party MP, has tested positive for COVID-19. The wife of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said in a tweet that she is completely vaccinated but is in self-isolation .

"I got a Covid test done, whose report is positive.  I am fully vaccinated and not showing any symptoms. For the safety of myself and others, I have isolated myself," was tweeted by Ms Yadav .

All the people who have met me recently are requested to get their test done soon," she said.
It's unclear whether Akhilesh Yadav has gotten himself immunized. After his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, chose to receive the vaccine, he declared he would get it.

Akhilesh Yadav has been campaigning throughout Uttar Pradesh for the next assembly election, which is just a few months away. He'll most likely be tested as well. Tomorrow, he and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary will address a combined rally in Aligarh.

On Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav was last seen in Lucknow. He's been campaigning across central and western Uttar Pradesh since Monday, and he'll be in Aligarh tomorrow direct from his village, Saifai.

Akhilesh Yadav declared last month in an interview with NDTV that he would only take the COVID-19 vaccine provided Prime Minister Narendra Modi's picture was removed from immunization certificates.

"I've had Covid, studies say I won't get it again, even those vaccinated are getting Covid again... If the government puts the national flag on vaccine certificate, I will take it," NDTV was told by him.

Akhilesh Yadav claimed in January that he would not be injected with a "BJP vaccination," a remark that prompted severe condemnation from governing party officials. On the same day, the Samajwadi Party head sought to make apologies on Twitter, claiming that he was not referring to scientists.

"I have never raised any questions on any scientist developing the vaccine or any person helping in making the vaccine. I only raised questions on the BJP as people do not have faith in the party because of the decisions taken by it,"  spoke Akhilesh Yadav .
