Akshay Kumar’s mother Aruna Bhatia breathed her last on Tuesday morning. Sharing the news about her demise, the actor took to his Twitter account and shared the disheartening update with his followers.
He wrote, “She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti.”
Aruna Bhatia was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital in critical condition on September 3. Akshay who was at that time shooting abroad for his upcoming film Cinderella, immediately rushed to India to be with her. Taking to social media on September 7, Akshay had thanked his fans and well-wishers for their love for his other.
On Monday, he had posted, “Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough time for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help.”

In an old interview with Hindustan Times, Akshay had talked about his relationship with his mother and said they share a bond that is stronger yet gentler.
“The bond between a mother and her son is so strong yet so gentle...nothing could come between us, no amount of miles or continents can keep us from letting each other know every day that I would be nothing and no one without her,” he said.
