In a horrific development, an Alaska Airlines flight door on Friday was ripped off mid-air forcing the aircraft filled with passengers to make an emergency landing. US media reports suggest that the Alaska Airlines flight door was blown away along with tearing the shirt off a child and sucking passengers' phones from their hands. Now, the Alaska Airlines flight video is spreading like wildfire on social media with netizens in shock over the incident.
In the viral Alaska Airlines door accident video, passengers can be seen sitting inside the aircraft, and oxygen masks have been dropped for all of them. In the meantime, the flight tries to make an emergency landing while a strong wind continues to blow inside through the broken door.
As per reports, the Alaska Airlines flight left Portland, Oregon for Ontario, California at 4:40 pm. The flight was plunged into chaos less than an hour into its journey. As soon as the door blew away, passengers were left stunned and horrified. One passenger was quoted by a portal saying that a child had to be held in his seat by his mom as people lost their phones, which were sucked out of the plane. Another child closest to the damage lost his shirt due to the violent depressurization.
The flight reportedly carried 174 passengers and 6 crewmembers when it left Portland at 4:52 pm but returned just before 5:30 pm. It rose to 16,000 feet (4,876 meters) before it began descending. Alaska Airlines released a statement saying, "The aircraft landed safely back at Portland International Airport with 171 guests and 6 crew members..The safety of our guests and employees is always our primary priority, so while this type of occurrence is rare, our flight crew was trained and prepared to safely manage the situation."
