Residents are confused with Punjab's Weather these days. At one day, people in Punjab witness high temperature that reminds them 'Summer is Here', another day IMD predicts that multiple districts will be hit with rainfall. Similar thing is being witnessed yet again. Since yesterday (Friday), there has been a slight shift in the weather, with overcast skies and light drizzles. The Meteorological Department has forecasted rainfall across the state today (March 15 2025), and a Yellow Alert has been issued for 14 districts, with the possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fathehgarh Sahib, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa today. Thunderstorms have been predicted at these places. However, the department also believes that the effects of today’s rain will be seen more in many areas of Majha and Doaba, while light rain may also occur in Malwa.
Along with this, strong winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. The department has also declared a Yellow Alert for tomorrow (March 16), with forecasts of rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms in districts like Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and SAS Nagar. It is expected that the rain will affect all districts in Majha and Doaba, while most parts of Malwa are likely to remain clear. The IMD further mentioned that a slight drop in temperature is expected in the coming days.
The western disturbance that became active on March 9 initially affected the hilly regions but has now started impacting Punjab. As a result, the IMD has issued a rain and storm warning across the state, which is expected to persist until March 16. During this period, Punjab's temperature is anticipated to drop by 2-3°C, providing some relief from the rising heat.
