Ayan Mukherji's Brahmastra gained immense popularity as it became one of the highest grossing Bollywood movies. Post the successful release of Brahmastra starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, fans have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of its second part. The announcement regarding release of Brahmastra 2 has finally been made.
Bollywood director Ayan Mukherji took to Instagram recently to voice his plans for the astraverse trilogy. The first part of the fantasy movie franchise saw Ranbir Kapoor play the role of Shiva, the lead character, paired with Alia Bhatt as the female lead. The movie saw wide spread success and questions about possible follow up movies have chased the director and cast ever since. In his recent Instagram post announcing the tentative dates for the release of the 2nd and the 3rd parts of the franchise, Ayan mentioned that he was keen on working on both movies simultaneously in order to make sure they could be released in quick succession.
The second part has been dubbed Brahmastra: Dev and is intended to delineate the story arc of ‘Dev’. The most likely choice for the character being Ranveer Singh who will join Ranbir Kapoor this time as the co-lead. The second part is said to be released in 2026 where as the 3rd part is scheduled for 2027. Fans might rue the fact that they will have to wait for a few years for their favorite characters to be back on the big screen but according to the director the time is being put to good use. He mentions in his post that the scripts need to be tweaked in order to align with his vision for the franchise.
Ayan also spoke of an exciting opportunity that has been made available to him. Mysteriously calling it an experience that would help him learn and grow as a director while allowing him to make big contributions to Indian cinema. His words made it apparent that he was both nervous and excited for the opportunity but he refrained from going into the details of the project. The question now, on every fan’s mind is what the young director has in store for millions of Bollywood fans across the world.
