Amaran is an Indian Tamil-language biographical action war film. It is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, together with Sony Pictures Films India.
This action war movie stars Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan, Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose and Bhuvan Arora. This movie is an adaptation of the book series India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. It contains a segment based on Mukund.
The storyline of the film revolves around Indhu Rebecca Varghese, Mukund's wife, who narrates the life of the Major on her way to New Delhi to receive the Ashoka Chakra, which was awarded to her husband. The movie got released worldwide on 31st October 2024 in theatres, coinciding with Diwali.
It set several box office records. It emerged as the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024, eighth highest-grossing Indian film of 2024, eighth highest-grossing Tamil film of all time and the sixth highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu. This movie has grossed more than Rs 320 crore globally.

Producer of Amaran, Raaj Kamal Films International, announced this on social media with pictures from the event. It read, “Honouring brilliance! The Officers Training Academy proudly felicitates Sivakarthikeyan for his phenomenal performance in Amaran, portraying Major Mukund Varadarajan, a distinguished alumnus of the OTA.”
At the event, actor Sivakarthikeyan said, “It was an honour to portray Major Mukund's life, and I feel deeply connected to his story. This recognition means a lot to me, and it highlights the importance of telling stories about real-life heroes."
This movie is based on the chapter on Major Mukund Varadarajan which is in the book titled India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
