To be precise, the makers showcased that Major Mukund got martyred during an operation during which he neutralised a Hizbul commander & terrorist named Asif Wani. The character of Asif Wani is portrayed by actor & model Rohman Shawl.

The success of Amaran is due to various factors. Apart from the story of courage and valour, the makers have focused on Major Makund's family as well, especially his wife Indhu played by Sai Pallavi, and daughter Arsheya. 

Amaran has showcased that Arsheya was very young when Major Mukund passed away. In fact, Major Mukund met Arsheya a limited number of times. Amaran's post-credit scene confirms that Major Mukund's wife Indhu and daughter Arsheya went to Australia. While Indhu started teaching, Arsheya was enrolled in a school. Major Mukund Varadarajan was an Indian Army Officer and a recipient of the Ashoka Chakra. Major Mukund gave his ultimate sacrifice while serving his country for the 44th Rashtriya Rifles, a unit of the Indian Army. Born on 12 April 1983 to a Tamil-speaking family, Mukund Varadarajan was a native of Paruthipattu Village, Avadi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

As shown in the movie, Major Mukund was heading a special unit named 'CAT' of 44 Rashtriya Rifle that neutralised notorious terrorists like Altaf Baba and Asif Wani. However, during the operation to neutralise Asif Wani (fictional name), he sacrificed his life for the nation.  Due to his ultimate sacrifice, Major Mukund's wife received Ashok Chakra in 2014 from the Government of India on the occasion of Republic Day.
