'He returned from Dubai..': Mother of man accused of vandalising Ambedkar statue in Amritsar reveals shocking details

The accused has been identified as Aakash Singh, he was caught by people nearby and was handed over to the Police.

On 26th January, Sunday, a man vandalised Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's statue in Amritsar, Punjab. The man climbed the ladder that was installed to put garland on the statue. Following this, he started hitting the statue with a hammer and broke the statue. Apart from this, he also tried to damage the statue of the Constitution placed near the statue.

The accused has been identified as Aakash Singh. He is a resident of Dharamkot, of Moga district. The man was caught by people nearby and was handed over to the Police.

Following this, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar in his address informed that the arrested accused Aakash Singh hails from Dharamkot of district Moga.  Police have found his mobile and a thorough investigation is being done in order to know whether someone is also involved in this incident or if there is any big conspiracy behind this. 

The mother of the accused, who works as a housemaid, made revelation about Aakash Singh. She shared that Aakash had travelled to Dubai three years ago and returned to India three months ago. However, he has not maintained contact with his family or visited home. Aakash has completed his 12th grade. He lived in Amritsar.
