Meta Platforms appointed Sandhya Devanathan as India’s head today, days after the former boss Ajit Mohan quit to join rival Snap Inc. It was not the first key resignation from the company Meta’s major messaging wing WhatsApp’s India head Abhijit Bose and Meta Platform's public policy director based in India Rajiv Aggarwal also tendered his resignation earlier this week.
Devanathan’s appointment comes when Facebook is amidst the regulatory challenges in India against the government of India’s tightening laws that are meant to govern big tech giants operating in the country.
For years now company has been facing criticism for not standing up to the expectations of putting a gag and curbing the spread of fake news and hate speeches in India.
