Punjab has been witnessing a massive rise in temperature as peak summers have started to sweat the Punjabis. As a result, the power demand has been rising sharply in domestic houses as well as corporate offices. To cater to this demand and ensure no long hours of power cuts, the Punjab government has formulated a solid plan. Power Minister Dr. Harbhajan Singh ETO has gone into action mode to strengthen the state's power supply infrastructure.
The government has promised a 24-hour electricity supply for the general public and uninterrupted power for farmers during the paddy season. Punjab Power Minister Dr. Harbhajan Singh ETO visited the GKV Thermal Power Plant in Goindwal, where he announced that 540 megawatts of power production have already begun.
Additionally, a 125-megawatt solar plant will also be set up to further boost clean energy production. To improve efficiency, the Goindwal Thermal Plant will be assigned 10 new SDOs (Sub-Divisional Officers). Dr. Harbhajan Singh ETO also assured that Punjab has no shortage of coal, ensuring smooth and continuous power generation for the state.
