Amritsar-Delhi, Jalandhar-Delhi alternative route
True Scoop News talked to a travel agent who revealed alternative routes people can take if they are travelling from Amritsar or Jalandhar to Delhi. Below is an excerpt on what he said-
"One route is from Zirakpur via Ambala. But, this route takes at least 1.5 hours extra. Before this, on average it used to take 6 hours to reach Delhi. The new route is Mohali to Zirakpur, Zirakpur to Ambala, and then Ambala to Delhi via the main highway.
The second route is from Rajpura. There is a road that turns towards Patiala from Rajpura, people can go to Delhi from villages. But, the roads in this route are not up to the mark.
From the Zirakpur route, it takes a total of 8 hours on average to reach Delhi. If you are coming from Amritsar then it takes 2 hours extra.
From the Rajpura route as well, 25 km extra distance has to be covered. So, this route also takes 1 hour more than usual i.e. a total of 7 hours. The Rajpura route takes less time but the roads are not well as it passes through villages."
- Zirakpur Route- Amritsar to Jalandhar, Jalandhar to Mohali, Mohali To Zirakpur, Zirakpur to Ambala, Ambala to New Delhi via Highway
- Rajpura Route- Amritsar to Rajpura via Jalandhar & Ludhiana, then 13 km from Rajpura where there are barricades near the bridge (Petrol Pump), a road turns right towards Patiala, then turn left 10 to 12 km via villages.
The travel agent further revealed, "Big vehicles like trucks generally take the Zirakpur route. Therefore, there is too much traffic on this route. On the Rajpura route, there is less traffic as trucks don't go from this route. But, the roads are good."
