Union Home Minister Amit Shah has recently shared a strong warning against pro-Khalistanis in Punjab on Friday. According to certain sources, while issuing the warning he indirectly referred to Amritpal Singh.

The statement was passed by Minister Shah while speaking in the Rajya Sabha. He mentioned that some of the individuals of Punjab were trying to become another Bhindrawale but were stopped by the firm actions by the government.

Shah was quoted saying, “Some people in Punjab attempted to become another Bhindranwale. They even progressed in their efforts, but the government did not allow them to move forward. Today, they are behind bars in Assam. Even though our government is not in power there, it was the firm resolve of the Home Ministry that ensured their imprisonment. Currently, they are reading Shri Guru Granth Sahib inside the Assam jail.”

Amit Shah further outlined that the country will not face any threat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was quoted saying, “We will identify and eliminate such threats as soon as they emerge.”

It is to be noted that Amritpal Singh was arrested by Punjab Police on April 23, 2023 and has been lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail under the National Security Act (NSA). However, Amritpal contested the Lok Sabha elections despite being in jail. He fought the elections from the Khadoor Sahib constituency and secured a significant victory and became a Member of Parliament.
