Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday visited Delhi police Headquarters to chair a meeting on the matter of police modernisation as well as to launch an application for the safety of the covid-19 heroes in the Delhi Police.
Mr Shah is also slated to meet plasma donors.
"2020 was a challenging year for all, even for Delhi Police. Be it Northeast Delhi violence, COVID-19 lockdown, helping migrant workers or establishing peaceful talks with protesting farmers at borders, Delhi Police faced every challenge with immense grit, ā Shah said while addressing the gathering.

The home minister's visit comes as the police force has been at the cutting-edge during the Covid-19 pandemic, managing the city as labouring day and night as corona warriors.
Shah's visit was initially scheduled to last week but was pushed due to his busy schedule.
The home ministry will be facilitating all the police personnel who were infected with coronavirus and donated plasma. Shah will also honour police officials for their outstanding work and pay tributes to those who lost their lives while discharging duties during the COVID-19 pandemic, a senior officer said.

The home minister is also expected to review the security arrangements ahead of the Republic Day.
Speaking on the occasion, the Delhi Police Commissioner said that cyber and economic offences are new era crimes and that the Delhi Police will sign MoU with Gandhinagar's National Forensic Sciences University. "Delhi Police is working effectively to bring it under control. To receive support from cyber and forensic experts, we will sign MoU with Gandhinagar's National Forensic Sciences University today," he said.
